Warning: This review contains spoilers.
Man of Steel is a super action film about the one and only, Superman. The film was directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen and 300) and produced by Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight Rises), Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder. It starred Henry Cavil as the hero/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, the hero's love interest, Michael Shannon as the antagonist, General Zod, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and not to forget, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman's biological father.
Man of Steel offers a film that portrayed the seriousness of the hero and the dark theme which can be compared to Dark Knight Rises. Henry Cavil did a brilliant job in making this Superman, a hero which convinced the audience and gave a different aura from other Superman series. I considered this film as a prequel actually because of its starting and ending. The moment when the film started off with Lara Lor-Van (Ayelet Zurer) giving birth to the child, you could feel that there was happiness and yet at the same time, sadness as the planet Krypton was dying. We could see how much Superman's biological parents loved their child as they released him. The child soon landed on Earth and was adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent and was named Clark Kent. Clark was fortunate to have parents who understood who he was and where he came from. They tried to help him, especially there was a time when Clark had discomfort about his superpower ability. I love this version of Lois Lane because she looked more stronger and tougher than the previous ones.
The storyline was systematic and does included some information which has never been told or probably not known to the audience before. This information included what does the "S" on his hero costume mean and also the General Zod's journey during the 33 years. I enjoyed the fighting scenes and the climaxes which gave bonuses to the film.
To conclude this review, I, myself is a DC Comics fan and this film so far is a great remake of the Superman and since it is said that there will a Justice League film coming in future, I can't wait for more superheroes to 'enter' the cinema. Therefore, I believed that the world is ready.
Rating: 8/10
P.S. The Man of Steel's costume looks hot. :)
It's good to see the modern filming intake on Superman. Christoper Nolan, who made epic Batman trilogy is part of the production team. He never disappoints...
