Hello readers,
Yesterday I watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with my family and before I start reviewing on this film, I have to admit that I did not watch Lord of the Ring trilogy and this is the first film that I ever watched from this trilogy/The Hobbit trilogy.
My first impression of the film was that it might be boring but I was proven wrong. With the unknown cast of the film, except Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman, Sherlock) and Gandalf (Ian McKellen, X-Men), I was impressed with all of the characters. They were always in a team and I think this was the first film that I ever watched with a team that had a good leader, Thorin who took the responsibility of stepping up first to the villains. I like how Martin Freeman portrayed Bilbo Baggins. I did not see him as John Watson (that was how I knew him), instead there was this 'Bilbo Baggins' face. However, sometimes he gave an expression which reminded me of a fan-made video created by someone on Youtube with the use of the hedgehog commercial dialogue.
I loved how the story of this film flows like a storybook. It has a great narration and pace which makes the audience more engaged into the plot. I also loved the locations used and the CGI buildings in this film. They were realistic and interesting. The fighting scenes were exciting and cute.
Overall of the film was amazing and I think I sat for the whole film, holding my bladder because the fighting scenes were exciting. I couldn't wait to watch The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug which will releases on December 13, 2013. Love fantasy, mythology creatures? This film is definitely recommended!
Rating: 4/5
